METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ELECTRODE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrode capable of preventing machining definition from being complicated and determining the possibility of manufacturing the electrode before NC data is generated. SOLUTION: In this method for manufacturing the electrode, either of a wire electric discharge machine and a cutting machine which can machine the electrode for diesinking discharge machining using the machining characteristics of the wire electric discharge machine or the cutting machine, the three-dimensional drawings of the electrode, and the electrode shape identifying information for identifying and specifying the shape 2 of the electrode is automatically selected, the NC data for manufacturing the electrode by the selected machine is generated, and the electrode is manufactured using the NC data generated by the selected machine. Since the NC data is generated after the machine is selected according to whether the machining of the shape 2 of the electrode is possible or not, an optimum machine for manufacturing the electrode can be selected without providing a complicated definition, and the possibility of manufacturing the electrode can be determined before the NC data is generated.
