Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the productivity of isoprenoids. SOLUTION: An isolated DNA sequence coding an enzyme, involved in the mevalonate pathway or in the pathway from isopentenyl pyrophosphate to farnesyl pyrophosphate, and coding an enzyme having the activity of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-Coenzyme (A) synthesis, includes (a) a specific nucleic acid sequence or (b) an isolated DNA sequence derivative of DNA, with the addition, insertion, deletion and/or substitution of at least one nucleotide, and coding a polypeptide having the enzyme activity. The vectors or plasmids including the DNAs, hosts transformed by either the vectors or the plasmids, and the method of producing isoprenoids and carotenoids by the use of the transformed host cells are provided.
