Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser device capable of solving the problem of yield decreases in the structure of mounting a nitride semiconductor laser element on a mount member, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A nitride semiconductor laser device includes a sub-mount 2, and the nitride semiconductor laser element 1 mounted on the surface of the sub-mount 2 by solder 4 and provided with a side face comprising a nitride semiconductor. A portion of the side face of the nitride semiconductor laser element 1 is covered with a dielectric film 117. Thus, the solder 4 is prevented from sticking to a portion of the side face of the nitride semiconductor laser element 1 and the occurrence of a p-n short circuit by the sticking is prevented.
