Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an innovative method to avoid breakout immediately below a casting mold more reliably than ever. SOLUTION: When casting medium carbon steel at a high velocity, the following method is applied to detect a significant solidification delay caused by bulging of the shell on the narrow face side. Namely, a thermal flux q(MW/m2) of each narrow face of mold is measured at a point respectively near the bottom end of the mold. When the thermal flux q(MW/m2) of at least either one of the narrow faces of the mold satisfies such a condition that a standard deviation σ(MW/m2) of the thermal flux q(MW/m2) for at least 5 second period is 0.04 or more, it is determined that significant solidification delay occurs. Then, it is preferable to take a recovering measure for the significant solidification delay. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
