Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for refining molten metal, in which a slag-component adjusting agent charged into a furnace is rapidly melted to effectively restrain eroding loss of a lining refractory and the gas is prevented from being suddenly blown-out from the furnace opening hole. SOLUTION: The slag-component adjusting agent which is a molded product wherein particulate raw materials consisting essentially of Mg-containing raw material, are molded and solidified, and which contains a gas-generating material (A), wherein the gas-generating temperature is ≤400°C, and a gas-generating material (B), wherein the gas-generating temperature is ≥600°C, is charged into a refining vessel to perform the refining of the molten metal. The slag-component adjusting agent has high solubility since the gas-generating material generating the gas at the temperature in the furnace is contained, and when this agent is charged into the furnace, since the time difference is caused between the generation of the gas from the gas-generating material (A) and the generation of the gas from the gas-generating material (B), the generation of the gas is made calm to prevent the gas from being suddenly blown-out from the furnace opening hole.
