Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing alcohols having a step of obtaining alcohols having an extremely reduced content of a sulfur compound from alcohols containing a sulfur compound by simple desulfurization; a method for producing hydrogen or a synthesis gas using the method for producing alcohols; and alcohols obtained by the method for producing the alcohols. SOLUTION: The method for producing alcohols has a separation step of the desulfurization of bringing alcohols containing a sulfur compound into contact with a separating membrane based on the pervaporation method to reduce the content of the sulfur compound in the alcohols.
