SIDE AIRBAG DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag device enhancing the speed of deployment toward the forefront of an airbag. SOLUTION: A folding of a first folded part 41 is maintained all the while in inflating and deploying an airbag 24 because the airbag 24 is folded back along a first folding line (trough-folding line) 31 that is set as a straight line inclining upward to have an angle α relative to a base end edge of the airbag 24 from the vicinity of the center of the base end edge in a first folding process. Therefore, expansion gas flows toward the forefront of the airbag 24 along the first folding line 31 until the folding in second to sixth folding processes is released. Thus, the expansion gas flows toward the forefront more preferentially than the first folded part 41 formed on the upper portion on a base end side of the airbag 24, thereby enhancing the speed of deployment toward the forefront of the airbag and restraining a passenger quickly.
