Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery which suppresses softening of an active material without reducing an initial capacity. SOLUTION: The lead-acid battery has a positive electrode plate made from a positive electrode active raw material containing a lead powder, a low red-leadizing red lead with a red-leadizing rate of 30 mass% or more and 80 mass% or less, and an antimony compound. The lead-acid battery which suppresses softening of the active material without reducing the initial capacity is thereby provided. In this invention, if the antimony compound is added to the lead powder and the low red-leadizing red lead at a ratio of a mass of 0.01 pt.mass or more and 0.2 pt.mass or less of antimony atom content to a total mass of 100 pts.mass in PbO2conversion of the lead powder and the low red-leadizing red lead, the initial capacity is improved clearly, and a suppressing effect of softening the active material is also improved.
