PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell preventing contamination with foreign material of an electrolyte membrane in a fuel cell constituting a fuel cell stack, enhancing efficiency of maintenance such as taking out the fuel cell whose performance is decreased from the fuel cell stack and replacing it, and having high liquid sealing capability and high deformation properties. SOLUTION: A plurality of fuel cells 100 each having an electrode body 5, porous bodies 6, 6' between which the electrode body 5 is held and a separator 7 are stacked, a first elastic mechanism 9 shading the electrode body 5 from the outside of the cell and making variable the separation of separators 7, 7 is installed between the separators 7, 7 of adjoined fuel cells 100, 100, where is the peripheries of the electrode body 5 and the porous bodies 6, 6', a module 1000 made by stacking the plurality of fuel cells 100, is formed by linking the separators 7, 7 with the elastic mechanism 9, and the fuel cell is formed by stacking the plurality of modules.
