MENU ITEM SELECTION APPARATUS AND MENU ITEM SELECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "a menu item selection apparatus and a menu item selection method" which can reduce an input operation frequency when selecting and setting a desired menu item from whole menu items. SOLUTION: With reference to a center position 500 in a menu item display area 30, menu items 41, 44 as selection candidates are displayed in two item selection directions (horizontal directions), respectively. If direction input operation is performed to two scroll directions (vertical directions) different from the item section direction, menu items 41, 44 as selection candidates are scrolled and displayed, and meanwhile, if direction input operation is performed to the item selection direction, any of the menu items 41, 44 is selected and set, so that after collectively switching two menu items as selection candidate, a desired menu item can be set by selecting from menu items of selection candidates displayed respectively in the item selection direction by one operation.
