Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preliminary coating device by which coating liquid stuck to the outer periphery of a roller is suppressed so as not to remain thereon and by which initialization of a coating unit can be stably performed, and also to provide a coating apparatus equipped with the device. SOLUTION: The preliminary coating device has a roller to which coating liquid is stuck when discharged from the slit of a coating unit. This roller is rotated around the shaft, with the coating liquid discharged from the slit to the outer periphery of the roller, so that the coating unit is initialized by the preliminary coating device. The device is provided with a scraper unit that removes the coating liquid stuck to the outer periphery of the roller. The scraper unit is configured to have a plurality of blades along the rotating direction of the roller, wherein the blades are provided with a part that comes in contact with the outer periphery of the roller.
