HIGH-CLASS SHORT-NECKED CLAM CONTAINING GERMANIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a germanium-containing high-class short-necked clam giving short-necked clam meat containing a germanium component transferred to the meat in a state of an organic compound and having fresh and rich taste and flavor and a specific texture feeling (chewability). SOLUTION: The short-necked clam containing an organogermanium compound is produced by culturing the short-necked clam in an ordinary short-necked clam breeding pond by a method comprising (a) a step of uniformly spreading coarse sand to the breeding pond to a thickness of 2-4 cm to improve the environment of the breeding pond and till the spread pond to a depth of ≥10 cm by using a dredge net, (b) a step of uniformly spreading a natural germanium ore crushed to a particle diameter of 0.7-1.2 cm at a rate of 6-10 ton/1 ha and (c) a step of continuously supplying the breeding pond with nutrient salts included in fresh water spontaneously flowing into the breeding pond from the circumference of the pond by forming an artificial water channel in the breeding pond.
