Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that the film thickness of an optical compensation layer is required to be precisely controlled, the control of the phase difference is not easy and a development process causes the increase of the number of steps to lower the yield, which occur when the optical compensation layer is formed on a color filter to control phase difference. SOLUTION: The composition for the optical compensation film containing at least a photopolymerization initiator and a polymerizable liquid crystal. The photopolymerization initiator contains at least 1,2-octanedione 1-[4-(phenylthio)phenyl]-2-(O-benzoyloxime) by the content of 1.0-3.0 wt.% based on the weight of the polymerizable liquid crystal and contains the polymerizable liquid crystal expressed by formula (1) (in formula(1), X=4, 6).
