METHOD FOR EVALUATING POLLUTION RESISTANCE OF SPARK PLUG AND DEVICE FOR EVALUATING POLLUTION RESISTANCE OF SPARK PLUG

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating pollution resistance of a spark plug enabling sure evaluation of superiority and inferiority from a point of view of an internal combustion engine combustion state in pollution resistance of the spark plug, and a device for evaluating pollution resistance of the spark plug. SOLUTION: An evaluation device 51 includes a discharge abnormality detection means 52 capable of detecting occurrence of abnormality in relation to discharge, and an incomplete combustion detection means 53 capable of detecting occurrence of incomplete combustion in the internal combustion engine. The evaluation device 51 is provided with a judgment means 54, and the judgment means 54 evaluates quality of pollution resistance of the spark plug 1 based on a detection result of the discharge abnormality detection means 52 and a detection result of the incomplete combustion detection means 53. Consequently, evaluation of pollution resistance and quality of combustion state in the internal combustion engine can be correlated, and superiority and inferiority from the point of view of the combustion state can be more accurately evaluated with respect to pollution resistance of the spark plug 1.
