METHOD FOR DESULFURIZING MOLTEN PIG IRON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for desulfurizing molten pig iron with which the desulfurize-treatment capacity of ≤50 ppm remaining S concentration can be achieved at low cost and for short time. SOLUTION: In the method for desulfurizing the molten pig iron, in which the molten pig iron 1 is desulfurized by dipping a dipping free-board 4 and an injection lance 5 into the molten pig iron 1 in a molten pig iron ladle 3 and injecting inert gas and CaO powdery materials from this injection lance; this desulfurizing method is performed as the followings, that metallic Al is added on the molten pig iron surface in the interval, in which the oxygen partial pressure is reached to ≤0.1 MPa by injecting the inert gas into the dipping free-board 4 and 30 mass% of the used CaO total quantity is injected.
