OBJECT DETECTION SYSTEM BY REAR CAMERA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an "object detection system by a rear camera" in which image processing burden is reduced and further, a dangerous object can be displayed inside a photographed image while being enlarged so as to be easily recognized when raising an alarm in detecting a solid object or moving object proximate to a vehicle in the image photographed by the rear camera. SOLUTION: The photographed image of a rear camera photographing the rear side of the vehicle is taken in, planar projection processing is performed on an image in a proximate area proximate to the vehicle, and a dangerous object is detected from a differential image between two planar projection images at different times. Furthermore, edge processing is performed on an image in a peripheral area that is an area around the proximate area, for the photographed image and an image of the object in the peripheral area is detected. A corresponding object in the peripheral area is specified from coordinates of the object detected in the proximate area and an image obtained by coupling both the objects is stored while being updated as an enlargement template. Moreover, in the camera photographed image, an overall image corresponding to the object is displayed for warning while being enlarged as a dangerous object. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
