Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for vertically turning a leg rest and a chair type massage machine which prevents occurrence of a failure in the leg rest. SOLUTION: The massage machine includes: a body frame 7 placed on a floor surface F; a seat 1 provided to the body frame 7 to be taken by a user; the leg rest 2 attached to the front of the body frame 7 in a manner of being turnable around a horizontal axial center C1; a leg drive 5 which vertically turns the leg rest 2 around the axial center C1; and a massage tool provided to the leg rest 2. The massage machine is provided with an evacuation means 8a that turns the leg rest 2 downward, when an abnormal load F0 acts from above on the leg rest 2 in a state that it is turned upward.
