Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a static eliminator and a static elimination method capable of preventing impurities from attaching to the tip of a discharge electrode, and obtaining a substantial static elimination effect at high static elimination speed. SOLUTION: In the static eliminator 1 provided with a discharge electrode 41 releasing ion through corona discharge with impression of high voltage, a nozzle 4 having an emitting port 43 for spouting supplied gas together with the ion emitted and a gas flow channel 42 for guiding the supplied gas to the spouting port 43, a flow velocity of gas directly after spouting from the emitting port 43 is to exceed sound velocity, and yet, a gas pressure at the emitting port 43 to be larger than an atmospheric pressure. The gas flow channel 42 is provided with a throat part 45 so as to have a flow area gradually squeezed down, and a ratio of the atmospheric pressure to the gas pressure is to be not more than 0.528 at a part just before the throat part 45 where the flow area does not fluctuate.
