Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing circuit and an image display apparatus, capable of displaying a part in higher luminance, where an image is displayed in high luminance. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 1 includes: a luminance detecting unit 14 which determines whether or not, the luminance level of an input image signal exceeds the preliminarily set threshold of a luminance level, and which detects a region exceeding the threshold as a high luminance pixel area; and a gamma correcting unit 22 which performs a high luminance gamma correction by applying a gamma correction table for high luminance for further increasing the luminance to the image signal in the high luminance image region, and which performs basic gamma correction which is normal luminance correction, by applying a gamma correction table for basic luminance to the image signal at the outside of the high luminance image region.
