SOLUTION: The conversation assist device 100 includes an input unit 410, a storage unit 420, a processing unit 440, and an output unit 460. A template database 422 stored in a storage device 422 is formed by a plurality of templates 500. Each of the templates 500 correlates a category sentence of a plurality of languages with a keyword. A keyword is specified by one keyword expression and one or more character inputs (keyword reading). When the input unit 410 receives any one of the input characters, an illustrative sentence selection unit 440 extracts a template 500 having a keyword corresponding to the inputted character.
