METHOD OF CALCULATING AMOUNT OF PARTICULATE ACCUMULATED IN FINE PARTICLE FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modeling of a particulate filter enabled to be executed in a control unit for an automobile. SOLUTION: This method of calculating the amount (msv) of particulate accumulated in a particulate filter includes: a step of calculating the amount (ms) of particulate accumulated in the particulate filter based on a physical model that uses the measured physical quantity and/or the calculated physical quantity; and a step of subjecting the calculated particulate amount (ms) to validation based on a given validation criteria. The latter step envisages validation of calculated particulate amount (ms) in the case wherein the described criteria are satisfied, and validation of a substitute particulate amount (msubst) which is a function of previously validated amount (msv) and of an admissible rate of variation in the case wherein the described criteria are not satisfied.
