HANDRAIL DEVICE OF VARIABLE SPEED MOVING SIDEWALK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail device of a variable speed moving sidewalk continuously performing acceleration and deceleration without a shock, in which there is no need for shifting handrails from a getting-on port to a getting-out port, and there is no possibility that a soft glove or cuff is got in a mechanism part. SOLUTION: The handrail device of the variable speed moving sidewalk includes: a pair of discoid pulleys 10 rotated around horizontal shafts disposed respectively to the getting-on port and the getting-out port; an expansion/contraction link chain 20 stretched horizontally and endlessly stretched between the discoid pulleys; and a link chain drive device 30 driving the expansion/contraction link chain 20 in a longitudinal direction thereof. The expansion/contraction link chain 20 is constituted of a plurality of expansion/contraction links 22 mutually connected in series. Each expansion/contraction link 22 can be extended/contracted in the longitudinal direction and has a drive roller 24. A link chain drive device 30 has a spiral shaft 32 engaged with the drive rollers 24 to continuously changing a pitch P between the drive rollers to accelerate or decelerate.
