FINGER DATA AUTHENTICATION DEVICE AND PORTABLE APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable apparatus which enters a state suitable for a user's dominant hand without providing a dedicated configuration for determining his or her dominant hand. SOLUTION: A fingerprint authentication device applied to the portable apparatus includes: a fingerprint sensor provided with two line sensors which extend in a direction crossing a finger movement direction to sequentially obtain line data at each time; a fingerprint data creating part for creating fingerprint data on the basis of an output of the fingerprint sensor; a fingerprint authenticating part for discriminating whether fingerprint data for registration coincides with fingerprint data for authentication; and a finger movement direction determining part for comparing line data in the two line sensors to determine a relative movement direction of a finger. The portable apparatus has a vertical direction determining part for determining a vertical direction as seen from the user on the basis of the relative movement direction of the finger determined by the finger movement direction determining part.
