Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell superior in self-humidification as for a fuel cell equipped with a so-called flat-type separator wherein gas-flow path layers are separated. SOLUTION: The fuel cell 100 is constructed with the separator 7 a side surface (surface material 71) of which contacts to the gas-flow path layer 4 and a plurality of flow channel grooves are formed on it housing water-absorbing material 8 in them. The flow channel grooves are at least composed of a first flow channel groove 71e1 formed near a gas supplying manifold 71a1, a second flow channel groove 71e2 formed near a gas exhausting manifold 71a2 and a third flow channel groove 71e3 connecting the first flow channel groove 71el to the second flow channel groove 71e2. Moisture caught with the water-absorbing material 8 in the second flow channel groove 71e2 is sent to the first flow channel groove 71e1 through the third flow channel groove 71e3, and the moisture in the first flow channel groove 71a1 is vaporized with flowing-in gas from the gas supplying manifold 71a1, resulting to give humidity to the flowing-in gas.
