PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable fast line switching by fault detection using an Ethernet maintenance management function. SOLUTION: A network equipment has an Ethernet maintenance management part (103) for performing at least fault detection for each of a plurality of Ethernet lines (1-N) periodically, a line management part (104) for updating the line status of each Ethernet line in accordance with the monitoring result of each Ethernet line by the Ethernet maintenance management part, and a switching process part (102) for performing line switching from a faulty Ethernet line to a different Ethernet line according to the line status.
