VACUUM CLEANER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which reduces the burden on its user for switching its mode. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner includes an electric blower 2, an open-close switch 18a which is mounted on a floor sucking tool 9 sucking dust on a floor to be cleaned and detects the contact between the sucking tool and the floor to be cleaned, a control means 14 which has two or more modes having different supplied powers and controls supplied power for the electric blower 2, and a micro computer 20 which determines a mode corresponding to the mode according to preset combinations of signals from the open-close switch 18a with and without contact between the floor sucking tool 9 and the floor to be cleaned. When the user attaches and detaches the floor sucking tool 9 to and from the floor to be cleaned with a combination corresponding to a mode the user intends, the micro-computer 20 judges the combination and determines the mode the user intends.
