HORN ANTENNA AND FLARE ANTENNA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pyramidal or sectral hone antenna or a flare antenna whose directivity gain in the H-plane directivity becomes the same as that in the E-plane directivity. SOLUTION: The H-plane sector part of the pyramidal or sectral hone antenna and the flare of the flare antenna are structured with an artificial magnetic wall. Thereby, lines of magnetic force contact with the artificial magnetic wall as if electric force lines contact to an electric wall. Conventionally, the H-plane sector part is an electric wall (a metal plate), so that the electromagnetic field of the inner surface of the H-plane sector part and its neighborhood is zero or weak in the space area, but the strength of the electromagnetic field in the space area becomes strong. Consequently, the antenna aperture on the H-plane is more enlarged, so that the directivity gain of the H-plane becomes almost the same as that of the E-plane. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
