PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that improves the efficiency of work, while reducing the waiting time of voice guidance, and to provide an image processing guidance method. SOLUTION: A composite device 1 displays a plurality of items for various operations as a read out screen YG, and outputs a voice guidance for each item of the read out screen YG. Based on the read out limit value of the read out screen YG stored in a determination value holding section 11 and the read out rate coefficients assigned to a plurality of guidance windows TW, SW and KW obtained by dividing the read out screen YG stored in the determination value holding section 11, the composite device 1 calculates the read out rates of the guidance windows TW, SW and KW, and performs voice guidance of the guidance windows TW, SW and KW at a voice dictionary holding section 10, a voice synthesizing section 9 and a voice output section 8 according to the read out rates thus calculated.
