Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing in a high yield a 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid diester useful as a raw material for functional polymers. SOLUTION: The 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid diester is produced by causing a 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid ester to react with a 1,2-dihalogenated ethane in an aprotic polar solvent in the presence of a weak acid salt of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal and further, if required, a phase transfer catalyst.
