Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope preventing temperature rising in a body cavity by detecting a gas flow rate near a distal end configuration part of an insertion part inserted in the body cavity, thereby controlling an illumination optical system by a detection signal. SOLUTION: The endoscope is provided with: the insertion part 12 inserted in the body cavity; a distal end structure part 17 which is provided at a distal end part of the insertion part 12 and has at least an illumination optical system and an observation optical system; a flow sensor 20 which is provided for the distal end configuration part 17 and is a flow rate detection sensor for detecting a gas flow rate near the distal end structure part; and a controller 26 as a controlling means for controlling the illumination optical system by the detection signal of the flow sensor 20 and preventing temperature rise in the body cavity.
