Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inverter which reduces a drop in AC voltage output from the inverter when an output AC voltage is limited. SOLUTION: The inverter 10 converting DC power into AC power includes an error signal generating means 40 which generates an error signal when the temperature of a semiconductor switching element of an output stage 20 in the inverter 10 reaches a given temperature, and a current limiting means 35. When a current instruction value from the inverter 10 as a target value for AC current supplied from the inverter 10 to a load 50 exceeds a prescribed value, the current limiting means puts limitations on the current instruction value with the prescribed value. When the current instruction value is equal to or less than the prescribed value, the current limiting means does not put limitations on the current instruction value. In addition, when the error signal is present, the current limiting means reduces the prescribed value for the current instruction value, and when the error signal is absent, it increases the prescribed value for the current instruction value.
