Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper-sheet processing apparatus for reducing the current consumption and extending the service life, by performing lighting control of a light source of an image detection unit at an inspection unit, and by matching the control with a use state of the apparatus. SOLUTION: The paper-sheet processing apparatus that takes in, one by one, a predetermined number of sheets of bank bills set into a supply unit to inspect the taken bank bills, and sorts into at least real bank bills and forgeries for counting the numbers thereof, makes the light source of the detection unit at the inspection unit light up, for only during the period from the start to the stop of the taking-in of the bank bills and also only for the time, in which the rotation frequency of a conveyance unit is equivalent to a steady-state value.
