Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adhesive application apparatus and an adhesive application method by which adhesive is applied in a required quantity on a required part of the surface of a substrate used in manufacture of a rod-like lens array. SOLUTION: The adhesive application apparatus for applying the adhesive for fixing a rod lens on the surface of the substrate forming the rod-lens array by arranging a plurality of the rod-lenses between 2 substrates includes a transfer roll having a groove formed on the surface to be extended to the peripheral direction, a coating means provided with a coating roll arranged to face the transfer roll to apply the adhesive transferred from the transfer roll on the substrate and a transporting mechanism for transporting the substrate to a direction crossing the axis line of the coating roll at a right angle.
