MULTI-FUNCTION APPARATUS AND METHOD OF RESTRICTING USE OF MULTI-FUNCTION APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously use a multi-function apparatus having a login function, even when a fault occurs in a unit providing the log-in function, by flexibly changing setting of the log-in function. SOLUTION: The multi-function apparatus which has multi functions includes: an acquiring unit which acquires authentication information on a user desiring to use the functions by use of an inputting unit; a restriction unit which determines whether the user desiring to use the functions has the use authority on the basis of the acquired authentication information, and permits the user to use the functions on condition of determining that the user has the use authority; a determination unit which determines whether at least one of the inputting unit, the acquiring unit, and the restriction unit is operating normally; and a setting change unit which changes setting of the use restriction unit, on the basis of an input from the user by executing transfer to a setting change mode on condition that an operation of the transfer to the setting change mode is executed by the user, when the unit determined not to operate normally is present.
