BASE PAPER FOR COATED PAPER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base paper for a coated paper in which wrinkle of offset rotary printing (wrinkle at heating) caused at the drying step in the offset rotary printing is extremely improved, and which can constitute the coated paper for the offset rotary printing which includes a blister-forming temperature at a sufficient level in practical application. SOLUTION: The base paper for the coated paper for the offset rotary printing which is obtained by forming one or more layers of pigment coated layers consisting essentially of a pigment and an adhesive at least on one surface of the base paper, has an orientation ratio of fibers of not more than 1.20, measured based on an ultrasound propagation velocity-measuring instrument, and contains hydrated silicate having an average particle diameter of 10-40 μm, a specific surface area of 15-160 m2/g, an accumulated volume of pores having a pore diameter of not more than 105 of less than 4 cc/g, and has a pore diameter of 0.10-0.80 μm.
