PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic portable wireless pen which overcomes disadvantages of conventional methods. SOLUTION: A wireless pen device, which generates signals representative of writing by a pen of a user, comprises a wireless pen; a cap removable from the pen; and a mechanism which transfers a wave motion energy between at least one location on the pen and at least one location on the cap, determines the location of the at least one location on the pen with respect to a reference location of the cap, and generates signals depending on the determined location of the at least one location on the pen when the cap is removed from the pen and is placed at the reference location.
