Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoking article such as a cigarette, etc., that forms aerosol. SOLUTION: A smokable rod 20 for a smoking article 10 such as a cigarette possesses a co-axial or concentric construction. A longitudinally extending inner core 80 of a tobacco cut filler is positioned within the smokable rod 20. An outer material 70 that surrounds the inner core in an annular fashion is made of a tobacco material treated with an optional burn suppressing agent, and the outer material acts as a substrate for an aerosol forming material. A preferred aerosol forming material is glycerin. An outer paper wrapper 60 encloses the entire length of the smokable rod 20, and another paper wrapping material 90 also can enclose the inner core material 80. In use, one end of the smokable rod 20 is lit. When the opposite end of the smokable rod 20 is drawn upon, an aerosol including tobacco smoke, thermal decomposition products of tobacco, and volatilized aerosol forming material, is provided.
