FIXING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus such that a warm-up time is shortened and slidability is superior. SOLUTION: A fixing belt 60 is constituted by providing a silicone rubber layer of 200 to 500 μm in thickness as an elastic layer 68 around an outer peripheral surface of a base layer 66 formed of a metal layer (SUS, Ni, etc.) molded cylindrically to a thickness of 30 to 80 μm, and further coating the silicone rubber layer with a release layer 70 of 30 μm in thickness made of fluorine-based resin such as PTFE. The thickness of the fixing belt 60 is reduced to minimize the heat capacity of the fixing belt 60. Furthermore, a surface layer 72 (of 1 to 30 μm in thickness) is formed of at least one among carbon, diamond-like carbon, and molybdenum disulfide on an inner peripheral surface of the fixing belt 60 (on an inner peripheral surface of the base layer 66).
