Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a multilayer optical film achieving uniform screen display which is high in contrast when the screen of, especially, an IPS-mode liquid crystal display device is obliquely viewed, and to provide the multilayer optical film, and a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device using the film. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the multilayer optical film having specified optical characteristics includes: a step (α) of manufacturing a rolled film having a cyclic olefin-based resin (A) layer and a vinyl aromatic resin (B) layer by film-forming by lamination on at least one surface of a base film, made of a cyclic olefin-based resin (A) or vinyl aromatic resin (B), with the cyclic olefin-based resin (A) or vinyl aromatic resin (B) which does not constitutes the base film by a coating method; a step (β) of stretching the rolled film into a stretched multilayer film (C); and a step (γ) of laminating the stretched multilayer film (C) on a transparent resin film (D) to obtain the multilayer optical film (E).
