INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE HAVING OIL LEVEL GAUGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent enlargement of a cylinder head provided with a guide structure for guiding a gauge part to an oil return hole, while securing inflow easiness of oil to the oil return hole for inserting the gauge part of an oil level gauge. SOLUTION: In this internal combustion engine, the oil return hole 50 is arranged over a bottom wall 61 and a side wall 62 of the cylinder head 2, and the gage part 31 of the oil level gauge reaches in an oil pan in a state of being inserted into the oil return hole 50 via an insertion hole 40 of a head cover 3. A guide recessed part 70 having a guide surface 71 capable of contacting with the tip 31a of the gauge part 31 inserted from the insertion hole 40, is arranged on the side wall 62 by extending toward a joining surface 2a of the cylinder head 2 from the oil return hole 50 in the direction N3 of the center line L3 of the insertion hole 40. The oil return hole 50 is opening in the guide recessed part 70, and the guide surface 71 guides the contacting tip 31a to the oil return hole 50 when the gauge part 31 is inserted into the oil return hole 50.
