SOLUTION: The shock absorber 100 having a restrictor control zone R1 generating damping force F responding to a piston sliding speed using a restrictor 23 with a variable opening area and a valve control zone R2 generating damping force F responding to the piston sliding speed by using a valve 24 is equipped with a damping force detection means 10 for detecting the damping force F, a piston sliding speed detection means 11 for detecting the piston sliding speed V, and a restrictor opening adjusting means 13 for adjusting the opening area of the restrictor 23 on the basis of an increase ratio of the damping force F responding to the piston sliding speed V in the restrictor control zone R1.
