Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an organic compound by the transition metal-catalyst cross-coupling reaction of an aryl-X or the like with an alkyl halide or the like. SOLUTION: The method for producing an organic compound of general formula (I): R-R'(wherein R is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic, heteroaromatic, cycloalkenyl or alkenyl group, and R' is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl group) is achieved by reacting a compound corresponding to general formula (II): R-X (wherein X is chlorine, bromine, etc.) with a compound corresponding to general formula (III): R'-Y (wherein Y is chlorine, bromine, etc.). The reaction is performed in the presence of (a) a stoichiometric amount of magnesium element and (b) a catalytic amount of a transition metal compound, optionally in the presence of (c) a catalytic or stoichiometric amount of nitrogen-, oxygen- and/or phosphorus-containing additive, on the basis of the compound of general formula (II).
