Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst having high durability and having excellent catalytic activity even in a low temperature zone though the content of a noble metal is small compared to that of a conventional one. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas cleaning catalyst is used for removing carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas exhausted from an internal combustion engine and consists essentially of a cerium-containing oxide and contains palladium supported by the cerium-containing oxide and zinc supported by the cerium-containing oxide.
