Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit comprising a crank case storing a crankshaft, a belt type continuously variable transmission, and a transmission case having an air passage for sucking cooling air to cool the belt type continuously variable transmission, the crankshaft being mounted on a vehicle in the cross direction of the vehicle, having air exhausting construction with a cooling air exhaust passage and a cooling air exhaust outlet for avoiding easy entry of water and dust into the belt type continuously variable transmission. SOLUTION: The power unit includes an outside transmission case for covering the belt type continuously variable transmission at its outside in the cross direction of the vehicle, an inside transmission case for covering the belt type continuously variable transmission at its inside in the cross direction of the vehicle to form the transmission case together with the inside transmission case, an air exhaust passage inlet provided on the inside transmission case for exhausting cooling air, an air exhaust passage provided on the upper part of the crank case approximately in the cross direction of the vehicle, and an exhaust air passage downward part provided on the side face of the crank case at the opposite side to the transmission.
