Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a technique capable of position-selectively and space-selectively imparting optically functional layer(s) to the surface or inside of a formed product made from an compound having Si-O-Si bond. SOLUTION: A new smart fiber having the functions such as a silica glass optical waveguide, a white-light-emitting device, or a carbon-based sensor is provided, which is produced by irradiating a formed product 1 made from an compound having Si-O-Si bond with first rays 3 with a wavelength of 190 nm or shorter, second rays 5 with a wavelength longer than 190 nm but shorter than 266 nm, and third rays 6 with a wavelength of 266 nm or longer.
