SIDE SURFACE TYPE LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side surface type light emitting device that efficiently projects emission light from a thin and long light extraction surface, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The side surface type light emitting device includes a first lead, a light emitting element bonded to a principal surface of the first lead, a first molding formed of a light-transmissive resin in which the light emitting element is buried and having a reverse surface, a first side surface as a light extraction surface erected almost at right angles with respect to the principal surface, a second side surface erected almost at right angles with respect to the principal surface and enclosing the light emitting element together with the first side surface, and a top surface increased in distance from the reverse surface toward the first side surface, a second lead partially buried in the light-transmissive resin while leaving the first lead electrically connected to the light emitting element, and a second molding formed of a resin in which the first molding excluding the first side surface and portions of the first and second leads are buried and which has a reflective filler which is mixedly arranged.
