| Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus and an information processing method for enabling each application to independently mount/unmount an external storage device without needing an explicit unmounting instruction from a user. SOLUTION: The information processing apparatus including a removable external storage device and mounted with an operating system that performs the mounting and the unmounting of the external storage device and a plurality of application programs each configured to independently access the external storage device is provided with an external-storage-device monitoring means that instructs the operating system, in response to a request for mounting or unmounting the external storage device, which is output from each of the application programs, to perform the mounting and the unmounting of the external storage device.
