Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device which has excellent contrast characteristics by preventing a display defect such as disclination, and is reduced in cost, and to prevent an electronic apparatus. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device has a liquid crystal layer, which is initially aligned in a vertical direction, sandwiched in between a pair of substrates. Alignment films 22 and 11 provided to the pair of substrates and present on outermost surfaces are formed by long alkyl chains 28A and short alkyl chains 28B differing in chain length, and the short alkyl chains 28B having the shortest chain length are inclined to a substrate surface.
