Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for electric double-layer capacitor, which has a high solubility in a solvent and shows a high electric conductivity in a wide temperature range from a high temperature to a low temperature and is superior in reliabilty for a long period of time. SOLUTION: The electrolyte for electric double-layer capacitor is obtained by dissolving spiro quaternary ammonium salt expressed by general formula [1] as a solvent in a propylene carbonate in a range from >1.5 to 3 mol/L, wherein: X and Y are a 1-4C alkyl group or halogen; k and i are 0 or a positive integer from 1 to 4; n and m are a 3-7C methylene chain; and A is an acid component represented by hexafluorophosphoric acid ion, tetrafluoroboric acid ion, and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid ion.
