Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery which suppresses deterioration of a charge-discharge efficiency in a storage test of a battery and which is superior in maintaining battery capacity, after storage test. SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery is a nonaqueous lithium battery which contains a positive electrode active material, made of a lithium containing oxide which can occlude and release lithium ions; a negative electrode active material made of a carbon material which can occlude and release lithium ions; and an electrolyte solution containing lithium ions and the surface of the negative electrode active material, after initializing charging, is coated with a compound originated from vinylene carbonate, and its weight energy density is 100 Wh/kg or higher. The method for manufacturing a nonaqueous lithium battery includes a process of sealing a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode active material and a nonaqueous electrolyte solution, by a sealed container and thus, a predetermined quantity of vinylene carbonate is added to the nonaqueous electrolyte solution; carrying out initialization charging; and forming a coating originated from vinylene carbonate on the surface of the negative electrode active material.
